Happy New Year!

Wow. I'm going to say that again: wow. 2013 was a wild year for me. One year ago today, I had signed my first publishing contract but I hadn't even begun the editing process. I had no idea what I was in for there. :) Now, a quick glance at Goodreads will show that I have four titles out there in the world. FOUR! Okay, one of them is a freebie, but it's a cute little story that I'm proud to share with readers nonetheless.

It's been a wild ride and sometimes it still seems unreal, but I've learned a great deal and made some wonderful friends. Who knew the romance writing world would be so incredibly warm and welcoming?

This is starting to sound like bragging and that is not my intent. What I want to say at the end of this wild year, and before I begin a new one, is thank you.

  •  Thanks to all the readers, bloggers, fellow writers, editors and publishers who helped me get my stories out into the world.

  •  Thank you to each and every person who left a review on Amazon, Barnes &Noble, Kobo, Audible or Goodreads (yes, even the ones who didn't like the story). You are all part of a wonderful community that keeps books alive.

  •   Thank you to my husband, for being the best part of my happily ever after.

  •  Thank you to my family and friends for all their support. I couldn't do it without you.

Best wishes to you all for a fabulous 2014!!!

Holiday Greetings.

I love the holiday season. I start itching to put up my Christmas decorations in mid-November, I actually enjoy those commercials where classic holiday tunes are rerecorded with altered lyrics about shopping at various stores and I consider wrapping presents an excellent creative outlet. Seriously, you should see my ribbon curling skills. I don’t want to brag, but if there were awards for ribbon curling…yeah, this post just took a weird turn.

The point is I also understand why many people fall victim to holiday stress. Going to holiday parties, hosting holiday parties, finding the perfect (because it really does always have to be perfect) present for your loved ones, traveling to visit said loved ones or opening your home to guests who traveled to visit you-it can all add up.

I’m going to suggest that, even though the season has added a thousand things to your to-do-list, you take a little time for yourself. Watch a great movie (I like Love Actually!), curl up with some hot cocoa and a word search, take a bubble bath or treat yourself to sexy, new book. Love and Other Games is pretty much awesome and on sale for only 99 cents right now, but I’ll avoid the hard sell here. My goal is to encourage you to relax a little and enjoy yourself. You’ll be in a much better place to make everyone else’s holiday jolly as well.

Happy Holidays Everyone!

An Unexpected Hunger by C. Rosa.

I'm turning the blog over to C Rosa today!

Thank you so much to Ana for having me today. I’m super excited to talk about An Unexpected Hunger, my NA contemporary romance. Start with the two main characters, Alexa and Ricky, mix in a little lost love angst, add some mild steaminess, and sprinkle in a few bad decisions and you have a recipe for one crazy love story!

Here are some of the characters you’ll read about:

Alexa — Her favorite article of clothing is her white chef jacket. But lately, it’s been collecting dust in her closet. Maybe there are worse things than moving back home, like running into Ricky when her life has crumbled down to the last crumb. She hates to admit it, but he’s looking better than she remembered. How’s she supposed to concentrate on getting back into the kitchen with Ricky around?

Ricky — No one would accuse of him of lacking any passion. He’s only too quick to act on what he wants. But in the words of Alexa, he’s like a pot set on the stove. Turn your back on it for too long, and it might boil over. He’s determined not to let anything or anyone get in between Alexa and him. Just how far is Ricky willing to go to make sure he doesn’t make the same mistakes twice?

Drew — Having his sister, Alexa, home again means there’s always something good to eat in the fridge. He’s never one to miss a party or pass up a free drink. There are just two things that don’t fly with him—messing with his girlfriend, Mia, and breaking his sister’s heart. But what happens when it’s his best friend that could do the breaking?

Mia — Keeping one eye on her brother, Ricky, and the other eye on Drew is making her dizzy. Now that Alexa is back, Ricky’s been…preoccupied. Mia knows the secret Ricky’s been hiding for years. All she can hope is that he’ll finally let it go, and that she’ll never have to choose between her brother and her best friend.

Danny — Even after what happened with Alexa that night in his restaurant, he never thought she’d actually move back to New Jersey. Things were just not the same without her. But he couldn’t tell her that if she kept ignoring his calls. She wouldn’t be easy to win over again, but maybe if he told her things were different now, it’d be enough to convince her.

Blurb:

Alexa Stanton has the world on a plate. Five years after graduation, she's following her culinary dreams as sous chef of a popular California restaurant. But one explosive night in the kitchen brings her life crashing down. Ashamed and broke, Alexa retreats home to New Jersey for a fresh start.

Ricky Perry is known for two things: getting kicked out of high school and charming the pants off any woman. He is exactly the kind of guy Alexa swore she would never fall for again. In high school, it took all of Alexa's willpower to avoid him. But this isn’t high school anymore, and Ricky is more appealing than ever.

Ricky sets out to show Alexa that everyone deserves a second chance. Even him. Alexa needs to decide between what’s right for her career and what’s right for her heart. Or maybe Ricky will prove she really can have it all.

Meet Romance Author, Lorenz Font.

Have you read any books by Lorenz Font?
Let me introduce you to this amazing new author!

Hunted (Gates Legacy #1)

Deep in the heart of New York City’s underworld, a horrible disease is ravaging the vampire community. The Vampire Council is on a crusade to obliterate those infected, and Harrow Gates is target Number One. The unwitting source of the plague, he suffers from the same nightmarish symptoms as his victims. The world he'd been thrust into was cold, cruel, and intent on eradicating him, and the legions of afflicted vampires he created with his bite.

A bounty hanging over his head, satisfying his hunger has become an enormous challenge for Harrow. The less he feeds, the more hideous and painful his lesions become. Constantly running for his life and learning new tricks to survive, Harrow is in no position to refuse when Pritchard Tack offers him a unique opportunity. Pritchard not only gives Harrow a new beginning, but also a purpose and a chance to rectify the chaos he created in the vampire world. However, the multi-billionaire has an agenda of his own.
Jordan is a reluctant new vampire and a woman on a mission. After the demise of her family and her own transformation at the hands of Goran, the ruthless leader of the Vampire Council, her only focus is revenge. Constantly faced with one frustrating dead-end after another, a stroke of luck leads her to an underground facility that she suspects is the lair of the monster for whom she is looking.

Upon learning more about the truth behind the secret bunker, Jordan must fight against her growing feelings of friendship and concern for the facility’s inhabitants. One man in particular threatens to pull her heart away from her sworn mission. There is something behind Harrow’s dark lenses that unsettles the hardened female. Once again, she trembles and hungers for something other than red-stained revenge. Is love strong enough to override her hate-fueled thirst for vengeance?

Tormented (Gates Legacy #2)

Tor Burns is a non-infected vampire who has taken refuge in the Tack Enterprises underground facility. Having survived a vicious attack with his fellow vampire Harrow, he now has a new purpose. Vampires afflicted with Gates Syndrome are still being hunted, and Tor is committed to saving them from the clutches of the Vampire Council. With a semi-cure within their grasp, Tor is reluctant to accept his new assignment: bodyguard to Allison Tack, the daughter of their fallen leader. Armed with an abrasive personality and fierce loyalty, Tor approaches this new responsibility with serious determination despite his reservations.

Vampire Allison Tack is the beautiful and timid co-heir of the Tack fortune. Infected and hunted by the Council, those lucky enough to have known her father are determined to keep her safe. A walking target wherever she goes, Allison wants to learn how to protect herself, but no one is listening. Sick of being the helpless one in the company of trained fighters around her, Allison vows to prove that she can fight alongside the best of them.

Meanwhile, the harem leader, Melissa, is hell-bent on unraveling any clue about her son Demetrius’s fate. He disappeared without a word, and time has made her desperate. Stepping up her efforts, she seeks the help of Demetrius’s son, Zane. With the additional manpower, Melissa finds the lair of the suspected vampires and wages war against them.

Thrown together by necessity, Tor and Allison can’t continue to deny their attraction to each other. Tor wants to give in to his feelings for her, but old demons resurface. He must confront the past to prevent losing the best thing that ever happened to him.

A life must be given for a life taken. Will Tor have to sacrifice himself before Allison pays the price?

Indivisible Line

Raised in a strict household, she learned early on to do what is expected of her and has agreed to an arranged marriage. Despite her reluctance to marry without love, Sarah is unwilling to defy her father’s wishes. She hopes to help usher in an era of independence and stability for the town, but for now, her focus is finishing med school so she can become Beaver’s resident doctor.

Business owner Greg Andrews wants to escape his philandering wife and his life in general. Leaving New York City to join a hunting expedition in Alaska, Greg’s plans are turned upside down when he is shot on Gwich’in land and ends up on Sarah’s operating table. In the absence of a qualified doctor, Sarah must operate to save his life. She refuses to wait for the consent of their tribal leader, and her father banishes her from the tribal land in punishment.

Grateful for his life, Greg concocts a scheme to help. Plagued by the side effects of her unconventional operation, he convinces Sarah to become his live-in nurse. Without the means to support herself, Sarah agrees to the questionable arrangement, but she soon finds herself in even more trouble. Her new problem is that she is falling in love with this infuriating man, and the choices she now must make are must more difficult than the simple act of saving a man’s life.

Together, Sarah and Greg must both decide whether they can overcome the vast differences between them, or if the indivisible line that separates their worlds will ultimately pull them apart.

The Little Drummer Boy by Sydney Logan-Release Day.

It's release day for Sydney Logan's latest holiday short story, "The Little Drummer Boy!"

It’s Christmas Eve, and Justin Banks is on the hunt for a last-minute gift for his wife, Megan. With the help of a homeless man and the beat of a drum, Justin stumbles upon the one thing Megan has always wanted. The one thing money can’t buy. It's amazing what we can hear if we just take a moment and really listen.
Rum pum pum pum.
It’s faint, but it’s there. A quiet, rhythmic beat that blends into the night. How this old man heard the sound is beyond me. “You hear it, don’t you?”
With a nod, I look around, hoping to find the source of the sound. The man points toward the coffee shop’s covered alleyway.

“Back there,” he says.

The carolers begin their rendition of “O Holy Night,” and once again, I hear the “rum pum pum pum” coming from the darkness.

Intrigued, I step away from the old man and walk slowly toward the alley. Each step brings me closer to the beat, until finally, I see a little boy, nestled in the corner. His only light comes from a lantern, and a snare drum rests in his lap. The drum is scarred and the strap is frayed, but it’s obviously his most prized possession.
Probably his only possession.
Does he live here? In this filthy alley? And where are his parents?
His clothes are dirty and ragged, and the faded blue jacket he wears is about three sizes too big.
Shall I play for you? he whispers.

Sydney Logan holds a Master's degree in Elementary Education and lives in East Tennessee. With the 2012 release of her novel, Lessons Learned, she made the transition from bookworm to author. Her second book, Mountain Charm, was released in 2013. She is also the author of three short stories. When she isn't writing, Sydney enjoys playing piano and relaxing on her porch with her wonderful husband and their very spoiled cat.

For The Love Of Our Furry Friends Christmas Blog Tour

Best-selling authors Sharon Kleve and Jennifer Conner adore animals. That's why they collaborated on this blog tour together. To showcase their Christmas stories celebrating our beloved pets. They hope you enjoy reading them as much as they did writing them.

Book Title: Halo's Wish (Book one in the Dreams Come True Series)
Author: Sharon Kleve
Publisher: Books to Go Now
Genre: Contemporary Christmas Romance
Release Date: 9.13.2013
Length: 50 pages
Heat Rating: Sweet

Book Blurb:
Halo Ann Carlyle wishes for a home, family, and a boat-load of pets. What she gets is a bruised hip, a lump on the head, a broken ankle, and her new yellow Honda Civic is demolished.

Rich McFarland, a sexy veterinarian, keeps showing up in the most unexpected places, promising everything she's ever wanted.

Halo believes she only has time to pursue her career as a pet detective and must ignore her growing attraction to achieve her dreams.

Will Halo trust her heart, and find a way to get both for Christmas?

Excerpt:
She'd just placed another call through to Pemsky's office, which went straight to his voicemail, when the office door opened. Halo smiled and looked up into dreamy, gold-flecked green eyes, short sandy brown hair, a slight cleft chin, and full lips set in a hard line. Even with the stern look he had on his face, my hormones jumped into overdrive.
Mr. Dreamy cleared his throat—she must've been staring. In her most professional voice she said, "Good morning. How may I help you?"
He removed a piece of paper from his shirt pocket and unfolded the sheet.
"I was parked in front of the Beacon Hill Ale House and my driver's side mirror was sideswiped by one of Pemsky's Security's SUV's Friday night."
Halo loved the Beacon Hill Ale House. Every Saturday night the Ale House allowed local bands to jam together. That's where she'd met her last loser boyfriend. She'd had a lot of loser boyfriends. She's currently on a hiatus from dating, but she wouldn't mind jumping back into the dating game for this dream-boat.
He handed her the piece of paper.
"I wasn't able to get a look at the driver, but I got the license plate number of the vehicle that hit my car and drove away."
He emphasized the last part.
"I'm very sorry about your car. I'm sure Mr. Pemsky will be happy to cover the damage." Halo checked the company log and Pemsky's name popped up as the driver—she gulped.

Length: 50 pages

Christmas approaches and Brenda has to decide if she’s going to let the past hold her prisoner for another year or if she can finally enjoy what Christmas used to mean to her—love.
DEA agent, John Smith knows the significance of December fifteenth to Brenda, but when the head of the Nuevo Cartel escapes federal prison he's forced to let her face the day without him, but not quite alone.
Can Daisy, a golden Labrador puppy, a huge sale on decorations at the hardware store, and a gift from her aunt restore her love of Christmas?

Excerpt:
December 2013
The weather forecast for the Western Washington area, specifically North Seattle, predicted a good five-to-six inches of snow. Brenda Houser watched the flakes float like cotton balls from the sky as she dipped a tortilla chip into a bowl of thick and chunky salsa and popped the morsel into her mouth.
Her boss, Corny Myers, tapped her pencil on Brenda's reception desk to the beat of The Little Drummer Boy, which streamed from the Green Hornet Investigations Bose speakers.
"Hey, Brenda. I have bad eating habits but I've never started the day with chips and salsa. What's up?" Corny asked.
"You know how I feel about all the holiday hoopla. I'd rather stick my head in the sand and pull it back out in January."
"Do you really think Mexican food is going to make you feel better?"
"Probably not, but a couple margaritas might help."

“I’m happy this wasn’t your worst date ever, because I had a great time.” He lifted her chin with the tips of his finger. Slowly he lowered his head until she thought she would die of anticipation. He clamped his hands to her waist and gazed into her eyes. “You’re so beautiful…” There was depth and sincerity in the tone of his voice. She felt special. Desired. He dropped his head and kissed her.
Gentle at first and then deep. She couldn’t breathe. He’d sucked all the air from her lungs, but there was no way she wanted him to stop. As she brushed his firm lips to hers, she relished the feel of her blood simmering in her veins. Par slid his fingers through her long hair to cradle and position her head to kiss her even more thoroughly.
His lips pulled away from hers and he stepped back. She reached for the roof of the car to steady herself. Oh. My. God… could this man kiss.
“Not bad for a first date,” he whispered and then kissed her gently again.
Okay… so it was a date. After that kiss it turned into an ‘official date’ and she had no regrets at all.

“What’s this?” Hanna asked, as she ran a hand over the grocery bag wrapping paper. Julian took her coat and hung it by the door so she could follow Gabe into the living room.
“Daddy saw this in a store window and said that we had to get it for you. Open it!” Gabe said. “I wrapped it myself,” he added proudly.
“But it’s not Christmas.”
“No. This is a before Christmas gift. You have to open it now.”
She pulled off a half-pound of scotch tape and finally the paper fell away. Hanna stared at the gift in disbelief. “A Christmas sock… with my name on it.”
Julian came up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist. “You told me that you’d never had a Christmas stocking of your own when you were growing up. Gabe knew  Santa wouldn’t know where you were if you didn’t have you sock hung somewhere.” He winked. “So you needed it.”
“You can take it to your home or you can hang it here!” Gabe shouted almost tripping over Cody.
